Movin’ on up

This weekend was pretty busy. Friday night I went to the EI show where I ran into Shelly. I didn’t really expect to see anyone I knew so that was a welcome surprise. Unfortunately she had to leave before the show even started because her kid was getting grumpy. During the show I saw another familiar face, Annette, who technically I haven’t even met yet. Since I promised I’d say hi, I waited till after the show to, but she disappeared before I could.

Saturday I woke up bright and early to get up to Southbridge for 8:30 am. Mikey and Stacey were moving to their new place in Northbridge and I offered to help out. The day involved some heavy lifting and problem solving which included taking apart and re-assembling a stacked washer and dryer set. After the move, we attempted to go see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. We went to the 10 pm show in an attempt to avoid the kiddy crowds but the show was surprisingly sold out. We could’ve hung around and seen the next show at 11:30, but were too tired to do so. Being the supreme Harry Potter fan that he is, Mikey instead asked when the first show Sunday morning was. The ticket teller said the first show was at 9:45 am….so we bought our tickets and proceeded to see the movie at 9:45 am on Sunday morning. That was definitely the earliest movie I’ve ever been to, not counting midnight shows. Overall a good movie, the best of the four in my opinion.

Tonight I helped my dad move a new TV into my Pepere’s (grandfather’s) house. He’s 92 years old and despite his 18-year old TV that shows mostly green, he didn’t think he needed a new one. My Pepere is suffering from dementia now and then, so I couldn’t stay too long or touch anything or else he might’ve thought I or my father was trying to poison him. No, I’m not kidding. It’s a strange thing to think about.

I thought I should update

I haven’t updated in awhile because I’ve been really busy with my new job (special ed. para), my old job (swimming lessons), and my once-in-awhile job (freelance graphic design). I’m not sure what I even wanna post about but I figured I’m due.

The wrestling promotion I primarily worked for has gone on hiatus for awhile. While this sucks, it also frees up a ton of weekend time for me. I’ll still be performing for a couple other promotions so I’m not totally high and dry, but I’m gonna be starving for stuff to keep myself entertained. I barely made it through last weekend’s nothingness. Fortunately my friend Kat invited me up to Providence College for the night to watch movies and hang out. So thanks again to you Kat for saving me from an extreme case of cabin fever.

I have a long weekend coming up this week (Fri. is Veteran’s Day) with minimal plans so far. Alex mentioned he might be coming down to Dartmouth for some party at UMD, so I might go along with him and Dan. I haven’t gone to a party on campus in forever.

I found out the EI show is coming up Nov. 18th. I’m definitely gonna be going with the League unless Mikey and Stacey really need my help getting ready for their big move.

Some randomness: I realized this morning that I’ve known two people over the course of my life that have legally changed their names from a foreign name to Kevin. Is Kevin now the generic American male name?

The weekend, NCW, and my job

Looking at my journal now, I realize I haven’t broken the job news yet. I now have a full-time job for the year working at Rochester Memorial School. I finally have a salary, paid holidays, and soon health insurance. Woohoo! I’m working in the Special Education department. In the morning I’m one-on-one with a 2nd grader who has Aspberger’s and in the afternoon with a 5th grader who has ADHD, diabetes, and behavioral issues. It’s challenging but it’ll better prepare me for the future as most classrooms are now integrated.

My long weekend was pretty busy. Friday night I headed up to Flash’s place to see him in a stand-up comedy show. I’ve seen him several times now to no disappointment. Friday night was a bore-fest however, but by no fault of his. He was getting heckled by some old lady in front of a crowd of 22, so he didn’t really give a shit about the set. Who would have? All the other comedians didn’t shine so well either. Some of the material was good but the mood just wasn’t there.

On Saturday we saw Waiting. Good to finally see Dane Cook on the big screen. It was pretty funny and had the feel of “even funnier with repetition” to it. Saturday night we both headed to Dedham for the NCW show. Flash was ring announcing and I had a match. It was a blasty. I hadn’t had that much fun at a wrestling event in awhile and I needed to. The ride was fun, the match was fun, hell it was even fun in the back. No pressure or nitpicking, just fun. That’s what I got into the ring for. I can’t wait until the show next month.

Sunday Flash and I headed over to Mikey & Stacey’s place to hang out. Originally Sunday was gonna be a trip to King Richard’s Fair, but the weather put a damper on that one. As usual, I had tons of fun hanging out in Southbridge, soon to be Northbridge as they’re moving next month. Monday was even better because now that myself and Mikey are working in schools, we were getting holiday pay for hanging out. Sweet nectar.

Woodstock Fair

This weekend I headed up to Mikey & Stacey’s. For those who have been reading awhile and noticed a pattern, I try to visit them one weekend a month. Sunday we went to Mikey’s parents’ house for a BBQ. I think this is the 3rd one I’ve been to there within the last 6 months or so, I’m starting to feel like part of the family…lol. On Monday we went to the Woodstock Fair, my first time there. It got pretty hot outside but we had a good time anyway. Fairs seem like kind of a scam to me. You pay to park, pay to get in, and then pay way too much for food. The majority of stuff to even do there was eat. I did however, have a REALLY good Carolina-style pulled pork sangwich (typo intended, if you get it then you’ve made me happy). Eating stuff that good makes me want to experiment making my own BBQ sauce. I definitely have the time right now. Maybe then I can market the sauce and become a millionaire…or not. I also got to meet Shelly’s baby for the first time. She’s so cute, and it was great watching her face light up every time she got to see or touch one of the animals. Little kids are awesome.
