Costume update – chest piece complete
OK, so Sunday I spent a good amount of time getting the chest piece all set. I ended up drawing and printing out a pattern in Adobe Illustrator after studying the cover of the Iron Man movie. From there I put painter’s tape over the glass on the light, cut out the pattern using a mat knife, and removed the necessary pieces of tape so it would look right. Then a nice coat of gray spray paint. After everything was dry I put in the batteries to see how it looked lit up. While it doesn’t look like much normally, it sure does look cool glowing!

My face is itchy…
…but that’s not the real problem. I had planned on buying a blue LED coaster from a glow accessories warehouse for the chest piece of my Tony Stark costume, but it looks like that’s not gonna happen after all. The LED coaster was $3.50, but since it was from a warehouse that likes handling bulk orders, after shipping and a $7.50 handling charge (because I was only buying one item) it would have been close to 20 bucks. I can’t rationalize paying that much for a $3.50 item. So…a little more internet searching is needed, and if I don’t find what I need I may need to do some more costume brainstorming. I’d hate to let all this stubble go to waste…
